Rental Terms

All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities regarding the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Eligibility Criteria

Renting a vehicle requires:

• To hire a vehicle in Northumberland, you must be at least 21 years of age, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for drivers under 25. You need a valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category, held for the minimum duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address are required, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional criteria specified in the Rental Agreement must also be met.

3. Reservations and Payments

• Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Northumberland office. A deposit may be needed to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All charges are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.

Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

• At the time of vehicle collection in Northumberland, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed to document its state. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as when collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls under your responsibility, regardless of insurance.

Cancellation and Amendments

Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.

7. Restricted Activities

Prohibited vehicle uses:

• Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. The vehicle must not be sub-let or operated by unauthorized drivers. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, and it must not exceed passenger or weight limits. Traveling beyond the designated geographical boundaries requires prior approval.

Breaching these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.

8. Liability Limitations

To the fullest extent allowed by Northumberland law, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.

9. Legal Framework

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.

10. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
